FRY JACKS 

Directions: 
Ingredients:

In a large bowl, sift flour baking powder and salt together. Add water a little at a time and knead. Continue adding water until a dough is formed. The dough should be soft but not sticky. Form dough into a ball, cover and let rest for 30 minutes. After dough has rested, add vegetable oil to a frying pan and heat oil over medium heat.  

Cut dough into equal smaller pieces, and roll out. Cut rolled out dough into four equal pieces. Fry dough pieces on both sides until golden brown. Serve fry jacks warm with the side of your choice. (They go great with jam or cheese)

 

 

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder 

1 tablespoon vegetable shortening 

1/4 cup water, room temperature

Pinch of salt

Vegetable oil for frying (I prefer canola oil)
